Hi, I'm Frank!
Welcome to my studio!
Here I work with ideas in culture and the natural world while trying to make sure my two mischievous cats don’t step on anything before it dries. I am an artist, illustrator, dabbler in design, and, all-around art nerd. I was born and raised in a small town in southern California called Temecula which my family has called home for at least eight generations; I was fortunate enough to be raised in a house my great-grandfather built in Old Town Temecula during the early 20th century. In 2023 I was awarded two associate's degrees in Studio Arts & Art History from Mt. San Jacinto College. Currently, I'm an undergraduate student at the Herberger Institute for Art and Design at Arizona State University pursuing a studio arts degree in Art Studies. My favorite mediums are oils, watercolors, inks, and, of course digital art on the iPad. I enjoy working on various projects such as illustrative compositions, still-lifes, realism, and abstract pieces just to name a few.
If you’re interested in any of my pieces, have questions about my work, or just want to drop in to say hi please message @Silsstudio on Facebook or via email at frank@silsstudio.art
"Differing from traditional fine artists I find my passion for implementing creation to vary by the dream and composition of the piece. My work often is fluid and fluctuates from painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture; the idea is not defined by the medium but choosing the right medium allows for the composition to become real and tangible. My work exhibits culture and nature at its core as mere fragments of the impermanence of life’s candid beauty conserved on canvas.
I use high-quality oil pigments, watercolor, inks, and other media to forever capture the natural world around us. Coming from a mixed heritage background of Yaqui Indian, Mexican, and Scottish descent my work is influenced by many aspects of cultural identity and the diverse nature of my own experience. To create something out of humble elements in the pursuit of making the moments in life that have an end, tangible again. From the people that may perish to the flora that faints, my work is an act of preservation for both myself and my audience."
